A Study of Korean Drama
Thoughts on dramas & movies I watch.
Drama & movie news that interests me.

I love analyzing stories, characters, writing, and ogling at everything in between. Not an expert on k-dramas by any means, just a strong & growing interest.

Korean cable channel tVN is on a roll!  With three successful dramas under the Flower Boy Series under their belt they are gearing up for a fourth! I thought it was only going to be a trilogy but, I guess when you have a good thing you should make it last!

This time, the drama will be based on 2010 Korean rom-com movie, Cyrano Dating Agency. It’s possibly going to go by the name Flower Boy Love Manipulation from what I’ve seen (which sounds just so wrong!) or, hopefully, Flower Boy Dating Agency.

This new teaser gives us a little look-see, and I love how they set it up as if all the couples from the previous dramas in the series were set up by them! HAHA!

The drama stars Lee Jong Hyuk (A Gentleman’s Dignity), SNSD’s Sooyoung, and Lee Chun Hee (The Thousandth Man). Rounding out the cast are Hong Jung Hyun (most recently in Jeon Woo Chi but most may remember him from White Christmas) and Jo Yoon Woo (Flower Boy Ramyun Shop).

One Thousandth Man is an incredibly cute show. And has more heart underneath than I would have imagined. And an incredibly cool heroine.

Boys on set!

A new season of dramas is approaching and to get us all excited, productions are releasing new pics from the sets of upcoming shows to tell us how hard their actors have been working. And how good they look. I’m seeing what you’re doing there, PR.

Seen here is Lee Chun Hee looking dapper in a suit for One Thousandth Man. He plays Kim Eung Seok, the owner of a restaurant, who is diagnosed with a terminal disease and has three months to live. Well, that’s something I didn’t expect. Let me guess, it’s a liver disease? My poor baby!  Despite the heat, he wore the suit and completed his scene with no complaints.

Eat up this 8-episode drama when it premieres on the 17th!

Next, we have Lee Hyun Woo who’s taking on the role of Nakatsu in the K-version of popular manga/drama of Hana Kimi, entitled To the Beautiful You. He plays a soccer star who also falls for the female lead. He’s also the outgoing and plucky to the silent and prickly main male lead. I’m all about it except I can’t get used to the mushroom hair, hee. LHW was filming this particular seen from 10am-4pm.

This drama kicks off on the 15th!

And here is Lee Min Ho shooting an underwater scene. His character Choi Young is plunged underwater while crossing a frozen lake. Oh, you can never trust ice in a drama, didn’t you know? He shot this scene while in 7kg armor (approx. 16 lbs)!

Show your Faith to the actor when this drama starts on the 13th!

Some cast pictures for upcoming drama The Thousandth Man. The drama is about a gumiho who needs to eat the liver of 1,000 men to become human. Only she hits a snag when she falls in love with the thousandth one.

Hmm…not so sure why Lee Chun Hee is in the period clothing and Kang Ye Won isn’t, but I’m just going to roll with it. For now.

This drama premieres next month and will have a total of 8 episodes!

Cast update for One Thousandth Man!

Hyomin, from popular girl group T-ara, has been cast in One Thousandth Man along with Lee Chun Hee and Kang Ye Won. Like Kang, she’ll also be playing a gumiho in which is now being described as a “fantasy sitcom”.

So, HOLD UP. Does this mean there will be, not one, but two gumihos after Lee Chun Hee’s liver? Man, the poor guy needs a break and the show hasn’t even started yet. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Hyomin in anything, but I’m all for it if she boasts as much talent as other T-ara member/actress Ham Eun Jung, whom I really liked in Dream High and Coffee House.

The Friday drama starts it’s run on August 10th!

Lee Chun Hee in new Friday Drama!

Lee Chun Hee, who’s easily been one of my favorite actors to watch since 2010’s Gloria, is cast in a new drama! The drama, which will be airing on MBC, is their first Friday-only  broadcast in seven years.

Entitled One Thousandth Man, the show is about a gumiho (Kang Ye Won of 2011’s Quick) who is only able to become human after eating 1,000 livers of men. Knowing this, she tries to get the last liver from the man she truly loves, Kim Eung Seok (Lee Chun Hee). Hmmm, sounds like My Girlfriend is a Gumiho except for the fact that she’s actually trying to eat the guy.

Lee Chun Hee’s character is described as this:

a man who′s perfect in every aspect, except for the fact that his days are numbered. He was brought up fairly well and even owns a restaurant, but is given only three more months to live

Three months? Is our gumiho giving him some kind of “I’m-gonna-eat-you” deadline or does he get some kind of terminal illness? Ah well, the 8-episode drama will allow us to see a “colder” side to “Chunderella”, so we’ll just have to worry about the details sometime in August!
